Well, here it is the end of the year and I'm doing a Back to School layout! LOL! I did this one with the June 19th sketch for SOUS. Renee is in Grade 9 this year and as I post this, she is almost ready to graduate and go into high school. Juniour High has been so fantastic for her. The last 3 years have been just wonderful. I'm sure she'll be sad to leave. On the note of being sad, this is a pretty sad post for me. As you may have heard, SOUS will not be doing challenges any longer after this month, so this will be my last post for them. I have so enjoyed my time being on this design team. I remember getting the email inviting me to join the team and I was over the moon happy about it. It was supposed to be for 6 months, but I just never left. LOL! The years I spent there have been great.

We'd love for you to join us over on the SOUS blog and participate in our last sketch challenge, so hop on by and link up your layout!

We went camping on the May long weekend and of course, marshmellow roasting was high on the priority list for the kids. It was so cute, but Isla for some reason kept calling them "Smarshmellows" It made for a good title for this layout. This is done with the June 5th sketch from SOUS. It's another reveal day at SOUS and Leah had a new sketch for us to work with. I wanted to do this photo of Noah and Isla with their Easter Baskets so I started hunting for paper. Well, it seems I don't have anything purple in my stash, so I settled for the next best thing. I must really love this paper as I discovered that I used it for my last layout too, complete with the same background. Funny how our eye goes back to the same things.
If you have a chance to try the sketch out, make sure to link it up over on the SOUS blog! Check back daily as designers are offering inspiration everyday.
Renee turned 15 recently. Although birthdays are such a fun event, they are also a reminder for me of how fast time is flying by. She will be starting high school next year. I don't know that I'm ready for that yet. I see the days quietly slipping by and turning into years. It won't be long before she will be wanting to start her own life. It's not like I'm not used to kids leaving home. I've gone through it twice already, but she's my baby. My last. And that makes it harder to think about. So no more thinking about it. I have to get busy cherishing all the days that she remains at home! I love teenagers! They are my kind of people! :)

May already! Hard to believe! Well, today I have a layout for you based on Leah's sketch for SOUS. The sketch itself looked kind of mixed media to me and here's the thing...I do mixed media and I do layouts, however, I don't do mixed media layouts lol. Oh, believe me I've tried and I just don't like how they turn out for me. There are so many stars of that particular style, but alas, I'm not even going there. So to that end, the paint swipes became layers for me. :) You just have to interpret things according to your own style and that's the beauty of it!

Anyways, the photos were taken of Renee before we left for her dance performance. She took ATS this term and loved it. The girl just shines when she dances. Here's a shot of her in another dance she performed....

Good thing she had time in-between to get changed. I used an odd collection of patterned papers for the layout. They are Bo Bunny's Sweet Tooth, which is primarily focused on cooking and baking, but the colors were perfect for her outfit and of course, I love the cute patterns.
This is the layout that I did for the second sketch of April at SOUS. Good thing it had several photo placements as I had quite a few pictures of the walk Noah and I took down to the lake. More and more geese are arriving by the day and they're so fun to watch. Good morning! Today I'm sharing a layout for SOUS done with Nanne's first sketch for April! I did this one to document Renee's new found passion....her love of dance. She started in the Fall of 2013 and is going strong today. Her first recital was very exciting for us!

I recently started using a little money saving technique that I'd like to share with you. Scrap supplies can get very expensive as we all know, but I found myself going broke with adhesives, especially when you have sketches with lots of yummy layers to them. What I have started doing is arranging all my background papers and then stapling them on. The whole background is held together with 4 staples and then I used adhesives to attach the photo. Usually I use pop dots as I like to put embellishments poking out from beneath the picture. Plus it keeps the photo away from the staples as I'm not sure they are acid free. Doing this one little thing has saved me so much money.

Please pop on by the SOUS blog where designers are sharing their take on the sketch daily! If you try the sketch, link it up on the side bar!
Oh how I wish Summer were here already! But doing this layout will have to be good enough until it does come. I used the March 27th sketch from SOUS done by Leah to do this layout of the grandkids in the pool last summer. What a great time they had in there. It was so nice during the week that we spent at the lake. I think they were in the pool everyday several times.
I have a layout to share today that I did with the March 13th sketch at SOUS. I had to take a big liberty with the sketch and use one photo instead of the three that are shown. It is rare that I scrap more than one photo at a time it seems, so I had to go with what I had!

The incident surrounding this photo just cracked me up. Isla had gotten some new dolls and when Renee said that she would play with her, Isla threw herself on top of all the dolls and wouldn't let Renee touch them. She is a definite character and it seems sharing isn't high on her list of priorities right now LOL! I just love when I can capture these little moments in life.
Good Wednesday morning! It's my day up on the SOUS blog. As usual, I'm scrapping way behind. These are photos of Noah and Isla from last Fall. The leaves were so pretty at the lake and they had such fun playing in them as kids do.
Well, it is indeed a Happy Day for 2 reasons! First of all it's my turn up on the SOUS blog with a new layout done with the February sketch and second, I got to scrap my sweet little Isla! :) I just love her cute little face and those baby blues just melt my heart everytime I see them!
This was a fun sketch to work with because there are lots of layers and I love to layer patterned paper. So much fun. I used a collection from Echo Park called Fine and Dandy. I just love the bright colors and fun patterns in this collection. Plus it had tons of cutsie little embellishments, perfect for my sweetie!
Today I want to share with you all a layout that I did using the January 30th sketch at SOUS. I decided that I had to get back to working on the wedding albums. To be completely honest, I'm not sure what I was thinking when I started out on this venture! Note to self....think carefully before making promises! LOL! I'm not even half way through and my scraproom is such a mess, but I"m sure using up all those wedding bits! :) So here it is, another installment. This one is going into Renee's album. She chose the photo of her sister as one she really wanted in her album.

I am having fun though looking through all the pictures again. I'd forgotten how many beautiful ones there were.

Hi Everyone! I have a layout up on the SOUS blog today done with the Jan. 16th sketch. We went to the Deep Freeze Festival this year as Renee was performing. What a fun time we had there. There was tons of entertainment, ice and snow sculptures, street performers, warm bonfires burning, music, dancing, sports of all kinds, food galore and of course, lot's of snow, wind and cold! LOL!

Renee and Chantal enjoyed a fun little treat of maple syrup rolled on a stick in the snow. ( Don't worry, they use cleanly made snow :)) Renee also enjoyed having her photo taken with none other than Anna and Elsa who of course made an appearance at the Festival.

This layout is actually created in two parts. The first part was the background on the patterned paper.

The next part was done on a transparency that I found in my stash and placed on top of the background!

I realized afterwards that I probably should have put some white paper down on my kitchen floor before taking the photo! LOL! Oh well! You get the picture!

Another fun little thing I did was alter the snowman sticker to match my layout! He came from an old collection of Basic Grey, so was in muted reds, greens and brown. Some markers quickly fixed that issue! :)

That's it for today! Hop on over to SOUS to see the sketch and take part in the challenge if you'd like!

I can't believe it's already the day before Christmas! Where has December gone? I've been continuing on with my wedding albums and thought I'd use the SOUS sketch to do another layout for my reveal day!

Using some creative license, I've done doilies for the two smaller circles in the sketch and just kept one spot for a photo. I'm making pretty good progress on these albums, but still have a long way to go! Don't be surprised if you see more wedding layouts on my blog! LOL!

I know you're all prepared for Christmas, so you have tons of time to enter the sketch challenge at SOUS. :) Head on over to the blog and link up on the side bar!

Another wonderful December day and I'm up on the Boy's Rule blog again with a layout to share with you all!

Noah started Kindergarten this last September and he was so excited to go for his first day. I used an assortment of different papers from the Nov/Dec kit for this layout and just layered them on. I thought it would be fun to do a library pocket on this page as it's kind of school themed. Inside, I included some hidden journaling about his first day. If you get a chance come check out my post over at Boy's Rule. They have a sketch challenge going on, so make sure to enter your layout!

Good morning! Today at SOUS we have a wonderful sketch done by Nanne! When I first saw it, I immediately thought of my daughter's wedding photos ( which by the way I haven't scrapped yet). In my defense though, she only got married 2.5 years ago, so I"m not that far behind! LOL! Anyways, I thought I'd better get my act in gear and start on the albums.

I'm going to be on a mad frenzy to get all the wedding photos scrapped because right now, my whole room is a gigantic mess. I have piles of stuff all over the table and floors, so I have some motivation here!

We'd love to see your creations using this week's sketch, so make sure to link it up on the SOUS blog!

I'm up again today on the Boy's Rule blog with another another layout to share! Good morning all! Another exciting day today! I'm up on the Boy's Rule blog sharing another project that I did with the Nov/Dec kit. The kit is packed full of great goodies that are quite versatile in what they can be used for. I had fun using lots of the embellishments to create my cluster! So fun!
We had bought an iPad in September and Noah just loves it and is becoming very proficient at using it. In fact, I have to ask him sometimes what to do. To see more of the kit and my layout, please visit the Boy's Rule blog. They also have a sketch challenge going on, so check that out too!
Today's Project Life challenge at SOUS was to use wood grain. I had part of older Authentique collection that had some wood grain paper, so I decided to use that on my spread. I also had a bunch of stickers that went with the collection, so it worked out perfectly. That's one of the things I love about doing PL is that I can use up my stash like that.
Good morning friends! I'm so excited today! I had an opportunity to be a guest designer over at Boy's Rule. I received the Nov/Dec kit to create with and let me tell you, I'm having a blast with it! The first things I wanted to dig into were the Halloween goodies from the kit as I had a photo of Noah to scrap. Here's what I ended up with....

He was the cutest Hulk ever! I know, I know...the Hulk is supposed to be scary! LOL! I had a great day with him at his Kindergarten Halloween party. So fun!

I'd like to thank the lovely ladies at Boy's Rule for this opportunity and the awesome kit! I'm looking forward to doing many more layouts with it!

If you get a chance, I'd love for you to come visit the Boy's Rule blog to see my post there and say hi! They have a challenge going on there as well so make sure to enter your project!

So for todays Wedding Layouts, I found a sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy! It's fun doing these albums and looking back at all the photos from the day. So many great memories and fun times! Feels good to finally make a dent in all the wedding scrappy stuff sitting in my house too! The hardest thing so far has been to pick out which pictures to use. It's so hard to narrow them down to just a few. Here's what I came up with for the sketch.

And because I'm doing one for each of the girls, here's the second installment using the same sketch!

I'm continuing on in doing more layouts for the girls albums. It sure helps when hubby is away and I get lots of playing time! LOL! I found a cute sketch over at Let's Capture Our Memories and thought I'd use it for the photo of my 3 beautiful daughters!

It sure speeds the process to use the same sketch for both albums! It's a snowy day today and perfect for sitting inside and scrapping!

So, my daughter got married 2.5 years ago and I haven't done her album yet! I thought I better get started on some projects for that event. They seem to be growing by the day BTW! I started off doing myself a PL type album because there were so many great photos that I wanted to include. I'm also doing a 12x12 album for my daughter (the bride). Then I thought, while I'm at it, I should do a mini album for each of my daughter's who were bridesmaids while I had all the stuff out. You should see my scraproom right now! YIKES! I'm on a mission now. LOL! I have to get this all done and cleaned up! Ok, so here are a couple of layouts using a sketch from My Scraps and More. I did both the layouts similar, one for each album.
